The Canadian Treatment Center for Obsessive Compulsive Disorders
The Canadian Treatment Center for Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (CTCOCD, www.ctcocd.ca) led by Dr. Sookman is the national specialized treatment center responsible for provision of specialty services on request for OCD and related disorders throughout the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults) to Canadians from all provinces and regions, as well as to international residents. CTCOCD offices are located in several Canadian provinces. Specialized programs are tailored for patients whose symptoms and related difficulties range from very mild and newly developed to very severe and longstanding. The psychotherapeutic evidence-based treatment for OCD and related disorders is specialized cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), informed by cutting-edge research and developmentally adapted for each person. Highly specialized CTCOCD services to optimize recovery include weekly office based sessions; intensive treatment programs for local and out of town patients with a team of experts (i.e., prolonged sessions several times weekly or daily); home visits; therapist assisted home based treatment; strategies for generalization of change, relapse prevention, and resilience; and booster sessions. Skype sessions are possible for individuals in remote regions. Psychiatric and pharmacological consultation and treatment are available with experienced staff psychiatrists affiliated with the CTCOCD in order to ensure collaborative care as needed. Treatment is not time-limited and services are bilingual. An appointment is offered within three weeks and patients may call directly.
