Description:

Community West offers a specialized OCD and Anxiety Program for clients struggling with OCD, anxiety disorders, avoidant behaviors, school refusal, tics, hair pulling, and/or skin picking in an outpatient setting of either Partial Hospitalization (5-hour program on weekdays) or Intensive Outpatient Programs (3-hour program, 3-5 days per week). CW has separate adolescent (ages 13 to 17-18) and young adult (ages 18 to 29) programs tailored to an appropriate developmental level.

In addition to primary treatment for obsessive-compulsive and anxiety spectrum disorders, our program addresses problems with attention, mood, emotion regulation, interpersonal communication, self-harm, disordered eating, and past trauma. Clients receive comprehensive individual, family, and group therapy, as well as integrated medication management and care coordination.

The core of the OCD and Anxiety Program focuses on behavioral treatment, (CBT for anxiety, ERP for OCD, and HRT for tics and habits), the most effective approach according to research. A major strength of our program is the breadth of evidence-based treatments that we provide, including ACT, MBT, DBT, somatic, and experiential therapy, which allow us to manage a high level of complexity and acuity, and to create a customized treatment program to best meet the unique needs of each client.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

Community West has two other specialized programs: Foundations and Trauma and Resiliency.

Challenges such as mood disorders, personality disorders, family conflict, self-harm, and developmental difficulties are supported in the Foundations program. The goal of Foundations is to foster a secure sense of self, emotional regulation, and the skills to build relationships of depth and meaning.

In the Trauma and Resiliency program, we use a bottom-up approach to treating trauma with therapies such as EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Somatic Experiencing.

The programs are not rigid; clients may receive different services from all three programs, as determined by their individualized treatment plan.
