Description:

Genesee Valley Psychology (GVP) is a social justice oriented training clinic that provides evidenced-based therapy to the Rochester New York area (and beyond via telehealth). We have services for children, adolescents, and adults. We offer outpatient services and an intensive program for OCD, and specialize in the overlap of OCD and Trauma. We also offer multiple groups for OCD, including an ERP group and a Support Group. We are a training site, offering practicum and postdoctoral fellowships, and other internship programs. We also have a comprehensive DBT program, and a trauma track.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

We specialize in OCD, BFRBs, Trauma/PTSD and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Diversity Statement:

GVP requires that all employees and trainees are willing to engage in consistent, ongoing work to become more culturally humble, accessible, and responsive. To work towards this, we engage in structured self-reflection of our identities/positionally/areas of less awareness, and in response set goals to self-educate. We commit to making our evidence-based services accessible by taking area insurances, medicare/medicaid, and offer a wide ranging sliding scale.

Our director, Dr. Lauren Wadsworth, was trained in a scientist-practitioner-activist model in graduate school, and designed GVP based on that education and those values. She is the author of “Did That Just Happen?! Beyond “Diversity” -Creating Sustainable and Inclusive Organizations” and structures ongoing clinic learning opportunities.

We strive to increase our diversity across all sociocultural identities (age, diagnosis, disability status, religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, indigenous heritage, nation of origin, gender identity/gender expression) of both patients and staff.
