MGH Pediatric Psychiatry OCD & Tic Disorders Program
The clinicians in our program commonly evaluate for, diagnose, and treat obsessive-compulsive spectrum (including trichotillomania and skin-picking), tic spectrum, and related disorders in children (under age 18). Initial evaluation provides psychoeducation around the presenting condition(s), integrates and formulates an assessment based on symptoms, and provides recommendations for future treatment approaches.
This is an outpatient evaluation and management clinic; long-term care in our program is psychoeducation and medication management. We also offer second opinions and one-time consults. At this time, we are unable to offer behavioral therapy, though we are often able to connect patients to behavioral therapists and other resources in the community who are appropriate for their needs.
Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:
Some of these common related disorders are: anxiety, specific phobias, mood disorders like depression, ADHD, rage outbursts/explosivity, autism spectrum disorders, and sensory sensitivity.
