Narrative of Services:
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW 102807) in the State of California with a Master’s in social work (MSW) from UCLA. I work with adults 18 plus and specialize in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety, stress management, trauma, self esteem issues, mood disorders, and LGBTQI+ issues. I principally employee the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), mindfulness, psychodynamics, coping development, and motivational interviewing.

OCD presents a special kind of suffering and can be daunting to alleviate but with the right support clients can free themselves from this burden. I myself have successfully coped with my own OCD and I’ve treated many individuals’ suffering from this disorder over my 14 year career, and gained much valuable experience and insight during that period. This experience informed my OCD treatment structure to include three parallel paths that utilize; exposure, response, prevention (ERP) techniques to confront their fears, CBT and mindfulness techniques to address any associated generalized anxiety, and an exploration of any past causes of OCD.

Diversity Statement:

I am of LGBTQIA+ status myself and therefore can relate to clients who’ve faced related stressors that have contributed to their anxiety and OCD presentations. Cultural competency begins with the understanding that every family and individual in any cultural group can vary widely and I never shy away from asking questions and listening and never assume to know where any individual from any culture may be coming from.

My professional experience has included working with individuals from all backgrounds and demographics. I myself have dealt with OCD/chronic anxiety and successfully coped with it so I know from experience how challenging and intimidating this treatment can be. Through my experience I believe what is most important is that the individual feels safe and heard so developing an authentic rapport is essential. When working with individuals who suffer from OCD having compassionate boundaries is necessary as is the ability to nudge clients to face their long running fears as related to their OCD so they can finally feel free.
