I want to help you face down your anxiety and find peace in your religious experience. I want you stop feeling so guilty and realize you are a good person. When it comes to OCD, traditional talk therapy will only make limited progress. I practice specialized therapies called ERP and EMDR. ERP is considered the gold standard. for OCD treatment and early research on EMDR shows it may be just as effective. This combination is particularly good for those whose OCD is affected by a trauma history.
PTSD
I focus on treating religious OCD. If you struggle with compulsive confessing, praying, or repenting you know how much OCD can take the joy from religion. My clients struggle with feeling deep dark guilt in response to even perceived mistakes. Like Chidi from the Good Place, they stress deeply over even the possibility of sin. Their relationships with God and religion in general leave them with intense anxiety. If religion and morality bring dread instead of peace, we should work together. I am also happy to work with other types of OCD and have received extensive supervision on OCD treatment.
I am a white woman but I come from a mixed race family and as a result have some familiarity with Native American culture, especially the Rosebud Sioux tribe.
