L. Kevin Chapman PhD
Dr. Chapman has successfully treated many individuals with OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). ERP is a very structured, time-limited approach that teaches individuals with OCD to face feared situations in a “graduated” fashion (move from one situation that causes moderate anxiety and distress to the next after successful completion) while disengaging from compulsions. Through ERP, individuals with OCD learn that anxiety naturally decreases on its own through repeated exposure. Feared outcomes rarely, if ever, happen. Most individuals experience significant improvement in roughly 17 sessions of ERP. Dr. Chapman also provides treatment outside of the office as necessary.
