I would estimate that my practice is comprised of 60-70% patients with OCD or OCD related disorders. I work with most content areas within OCD but specifically focus on scrupulosity, sexuality, order/symmetry, contamination, and harm obsessions. I also focus on general anxiety disorder, specific phobias, perfectionism, life transition difficulties, spirituality, and body image related issues.
I have been treating patients with OCD and OCD spectrum disorders for about 20 years. In addition to my experience in therapy, I have attended numerous continuing ed courses and workshops with IOCDF over the years. I am currently registered to complete BTTI training with IOCDF as well.
I have found that one of the most important parts of successful treatment is learning more about each patient’s culture and how they identify in a number of areas without making assumptions. Anxiety, and OCD in particular, often target these very important matters which is all the more reason to address them openly in therapy.
I have completed a number of continuing education courses directly focused on sexual orientation and gender identity as well as courses focusing on race and culture. More importantly, I am in ongoing dialogue and relationships clinically and personally that focus on sexual orientation as well as racial identity. Finally, part of my work as an instructor is teaching about matters of diversity.
