My practice focuses on exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP) for OCD – the most effective, research-supported way to manage or overcome this condition. I consider ERP to be a collaborative process between you and me. You (or your child) are the expert in your experience, and I bring expertise in OCD and ERP. Together, we’ll center both perspectives and develop a therapy plan that fits your unique circumstances.
OCD is rarely the only mental health challenge a person faces. My approach integrates tried-and-true, evidence-based therapy concepts to best serve each individual and family I work with, all while maintaining a focus on exposure and response prevention when OCD is the primary concern.
I am a psychologist specializing in evidence-based therapy for kids and adults with OCD and related disorders. Since 2012 I have been fortunate to work and train in world-class OCD and anxiety specialty centers. I completed my training at the University of Florida OCD Program, Roger Behavioral Health, the Texas Children’s Hospital OCD and Anxiety Disorders Program, as well as the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) OCD Program. I was also an assistant professor at BCM and the University of Pennsylvania, where I continue to collaborate on OCD research. I am a faculty member on IOCDF’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute.
Our cultural backgrounds are often the biggest influence on the way we see the world. They are central to a person’s psychology. My goal is always to remember how my own culture and upbringing shape my worldview, and to stay curious about how others experience things differently because of their religion, race, ethnicity, place of origin, disability status, language, gender, sexuality, and family system, among other parts of their culture. I communicate openly about these topics in therapy and explore how they intersect with a person’s mental health so we can best integrate this understanding into therapy.
