Jennifer H. Kessler PhD
My practice specializes in the treatment of OCD and related disorders, body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRB’s), and other anxiety disorders across the life span. I am experienced in working with teams and offer accelerated treatment as appropriate. In addition, I have significant experience working with parents to address challenging behaviors associated with their child/adolescent/young adult’s OCD and related diagnoses. I have 25 years of experience in the field with approximately 80% of my caseload having difficulties in the above areas.
I offer teletherapy, and I’m a PsyPact authorized provider.
I received my PhD. in 1997 from Louisiana State University. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the University of Maryland Medical Center’s Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. I also completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. My training focused on applying CBT to a variety of disorders, including OCD, anxiety, and chronic hairpulling.
Prior to opening my practice, I worked as a senior staff/staff psychologist at an OCD/ BFRB specialty center for 16 years. I have been active in IOCDF and TLC, having given several talks at each over the years.
During my graduate training in Lousiaina, my internship in Baltimore, MD, and my fellowship in Cincinnati, OH, I worked with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds, such as African-American and Latino populations. Much of this experience involved working primarily with minority, low-income clients.
