Narrative of Services:

I specialize in treating OCD, PTSD, Panic Disorder, and Anxiety disorders by blending exposure based therapies (including Exposure and Response Prevention) with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. My practice exclusively treats these conditions and also includes treatment of comorbid depressive and substance use disorders. Approximately 80% of my caseload treats those with OCD specifically. While I am early in my career, I have not kept count of how many patients I have treated with OCD, but I would estimate this number is over 100.

Training Description:

I have received specialty post-doctoral training in and have ample experience effectively treating OCD, Panic, as well as a variety of other anxiety-related conditions. In addition to these areas, I have completed trainings and workshops in treating OCD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Hoarding, and Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors and have gained experience in effectively treating these conditions. I have dedicated my clinical practice and career to helping those with OCD-related disorders recover and pursue meaningful lives. I look forward to continuing this work and to further developing and growing my specialty.

Diversity Statement:

I have had the honor to work with a wide range of multi-cultural populations and gender identities from working in VA hospitals, primary care clinics that serve farm workers and immigrants, and specialty clinics in Ohio, Michigan, and Oregon. I believe cultural factors must take a front-and-center seat in case conceptualization and treatment. The barriers that form from westernized treatments have taught me to be a lot more flexible and creative to best serve the individual. At the same time, I find it very important to make sure all individuals have the opportunity to seek evidence-based treatments.

In graduate school I completed coursework in multicultural competency which examined research about barriers to treatment due to ethnic, racial, and social disparities. This coursework is very pertinent to me now as I work with many individuals from various ethnic groups, social economic statuses, and nationalities each day. Contemporary treatments have been designed for white and western populations result in barriers I often witness when working with marginalized populations. I believe multicultural competence is an ongoing and enriching learning experience, and mental health professionals must continue to rethink services to make them more useful, inclusive, and welcoming to marginalized groups.
