Lynlee A. Olivera LMFT
The majority of my clients have OCD, in which I use primarily, Acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), ERP or I-CBT in treatment. I see children, teens and adults. I work virtually using Telehealth as well see several clients regularly in my office. I have had many successes since I began treating OCD over last several years. Feel free to ask me more about how others worked through it.
Individuals with OCD often have other mental or behavioral issues. Therefore treatment may include co-occurring disorders such as, Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety and specific phobias, Tics, Body Focused Repetitive Disorders (BFRB’s), i.e., Excoriation and Trichotillomania, ADHD and ASD in children and Substance Related Disorders.
I participated in an extensive training at Mclean of Massachusetts General Hospital 2020; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for OCD in Children and Adolescents. I later worked with NOCD in 2021, to gain a deeper understanding in treatment using ERP. During that time I received training by several of the top OCD experts and researchers in the world. In 2022 I participated (virtually) in a BTTI pediatric training. Additionally and most recently to the many hours reading from the top writers and researchers in this field, I have training in Inference-based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) which is another evidence based treatment for OCD.
I have a background working with troubled youth and their families. I have worked in homes, Juvenal hall, and many school settings as well as my own experience living in many locations around the world. I especially enjoyed my work and training with The Council for Boys and Young Men Facilitator Training which provided me years of rewarding work in the juvenile system.
I have appreciated learning about as well developing my own cultural competency through my professional work with children, teens, families, and individuals over the last 20 years. I recognize I can both consciously and unconsciously bring my own cultural frame of interpretation to any situation. Therefore, learning how to better understand our differences and having the ability to compare different cultures helps me foster the empathy, respect and compassion which is especially necessary for those in need of mental health services.
