Natasha Parekh PhD
Currently, I have 8 OCD clients, 3 who suffer from severe symptoms. Two of those 8 are nearing the end of their OCD treatment. All my OCD clients have reported symptom improvement. I see roughly 20-25 clients a week.
Facilities accessible by clients of all mobility levels: No
I was trained at the University of Florida’s behavioral health unit for two years as a practicum site. I shadowed supervisors during OCD cases and was trained in a mentorship/team based model where multiple ERP therapists worked on one case. I often was a co-therapist for different OCD cases. I also received OCD supervision during my postdoctoral fellowship. I have had experience treating contamination, sexual, racist, religious, harm/aggression, and suicidal obsessions. I also treat compulsive rumination. I am currently partaking in the IOCDF level 300 course with Dr. Patrick McGrath.
Diversity Statement:
I am a South Asian female therapist, and the only South Asian to my knowledge currently that does ERP and specializes in OCD treatment in twin cities. I have worked with a variety of demographics; however, a majority of the OCD referrals I receive are Caucasian.
My doctoral internship was at Boys Town in Omaha, NE. where a majority of the clients I served were of different racial ethnicities and were at-risk youth from broken homes involving domestic or substance abuse. I took a graduate course in cultural competency and taught an undergraduate course on diverse cultural populations. I was trained as a school psychologist and also have experience working (providing assessment and counseling) in diverse schools, particularly in low income areas.
