Narrative of Services:

I offer initial clinical evaluations, consultations, medication treatment, and psychotherapy, particularly ERP and CBT, in an outpatient private practice that is nearly entirely focused on OCD and OC-Related Disorders (Hoarding Disorder, BDD, BFRB’s, Tic Disorders), as well as Anxiety and Mood Disorders. I have treated approximately 1000 patients with OCD over the course of my career, several hundred patients with Hoarding Disorder, BDD, BFRB’s, Tic Disorders, and Anxiety Disorders, and over a thousand with Depression.

Training Description:

I have focused my clinical practice and research on OCD and Related Disorders for 30 years. I have treated over 1000 patients with OCD, Hoarding Disorder, BDD, Trichotillomania, and Skin Picking. I directed the UCLA OCD Research Program for 10 years, then directed the UC San Diego OCD Program for 14 years. I also have worked in intensive treatment programs. I am on the Scientific and Clinical Advisory Board of the IOCDF and have served as faculty for 5 IOCDF BTTI’s. I have trained, supervised, and taught psychiatry, psychology, and other mental health trainees for over 25 years.

Diversity Statement:

I have extensive experience working with patients and families of many different ethnic, racial, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds, as well as different sexual orientations. San Diego is a diverse and multicultural region, and I have worked with a very diverse patient population in my clinical and research programs over the years, including communities of color, LGBTQ+ patients, Veterans, and older adults. In addition, I both received and provided training in cultural competency in my many years as a faculty member in the UCLA School of Medicine and the UC San Diego Health System.
