Narrative of Services:

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist that specializes in treating children, teens, and adults with OCD and related conditions. About 60% of my current practice involves treating individuals with OCD. I specialize in providing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) treatment, but I have also completed training in Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) for OCD. This is an emerging, evidence-based treatment modality that shows promise as a treatment option for individuals with OCD that have not benefitted from ERP. I also incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into treatment when clinically indicated.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

Many patients come to treatment with co-occurring disorders. These can include other anxiety disorders, ADHD, autism, or depression. We start with a thorough assessment to determine what is causing the most interference so we can decide on treatment priorities. Sometimes that means treating OCD first, and sometimes that means treating another, more interfering condition first. We will work together to create an individualized treatment plan that works for you.

Training Description:

I have extensive training and over 10 years experience treating anxiety disorders and OCD. I earned my doctorate at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University. I completed post-doctoral training at the Center for Emotional Health of Greater Philadelphia, under the supervision of a Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) faculty member. I am the clinical director of ClearStep Therapy and regularly present at professional conferences (including the IOCDF Online Conference) on topics related to the treatment of OCD.

Diversity Statement:

ClearStep Therapy is inclusive and welcoming of all people. Dr. Shcherbakov has extensive experience working with diverse individuals including members of the LGBTQ+ community and veterans with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, post-traumatic stress and related disorders.
