Narrative of Services:

Within my practice, I’m the only pediatric/clinical child psychologist providing therapy services. An overwhelming majority of my current patients have OCD, for a total of more than 35 individuals throughout my clinical training and experience. I provide ERP and ERP+CBT for related depressive and mood disturbance issues, as well as parent training for completing exposures, to assist with developing family/home consistency and planning for exposures, and reducing accommodation.

Training Description:

I have 7+ years of experience treating OCD in children/teens. After completing a healthcare-based, APA-approved internship with an OCD specialist as senior supervisor, I chose to continue specialized training in a post-doctoral, clinical child and adolescent, outpatient setting. I regularly attend advanced clinician trainings in treatment of OCD and related disorders, including provision of pediatric ERP.

Diversity Statement:

For the last 20 years, I have worked with families from a military background, children and teens from African American, Hispanic American, Latin American, and Mexican cultures and have spent extended time in Mexico, integrating understanding of the Hispanic and Latin cultures as well. I speak conversational Spanish, which allows me to communicate with limited English-speaking parents in their more comfortable first language as well. Parents have expressed how comfortable they feel working with me because I understand their values and how cultural influences interplay with family dynamics.

I obtained my Ph.D. in School Psychology (APA-accredited) at Texas A&M in 2017, meeting current APA requirements for education and training in working with multicultural and diverse populations. Internship and post-doctoral years also met APA standards for training in cultural competency and diversity. The state of Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council/Board of Examiners of Psychologists and National Association of School Psychologists also have required CE hours for working with diverse populations. I have worked with a number of individuals from BIPOC and LGBTQ+ populations as well as military families.
